'The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance' - Aristotle.

Artist's statement

Growing up, I have always had a deep passion and love for creating and appreciating art. I would always be drawing or painting and through my mother, I grew to love going to see exhibitions and learning about an artworks history.

My work is inspired by people’s emotions and the reactions and behaviours that they display. I have always been interested in the different ways people emote, such as creating art to express themselves. Throughout history we can see how art has evolved and taken shape, whether that be through people's use of art to express themselves or how art is seen as a commodity and is used only for profit.

The Egyptians had no words for art. They valued fine craftsmanship, but did not necessarily link it with aesthetics or individual expression. Their artworks were purely functional, designed to facilitate their worship of the gods and help smooth their passage to the afterlife.’
Art is and has always been used as a symbol of value and devotion. I want to explore and document this journey of art. I explore this journey through an arrange of different media including print, painting, sculpture and textiles.
